BMW RA Rally

BMW RA rallyWe had a blast playing at the 2010 BMW RA Rally in Pownal, Vt.  ”Thank you” to everyone involved for the great hospitality & the built-like-a-tank stage set-up (& for not letting us go thirsty).  It was an amazing experience for us to be playing for such a great bunch of people, all amongst dozens of vintage BMWs in the main pavilion.

Hilltown Sessions CD review

ht-cover1

Here’s a Hilltown Sessions cd review by Greg Haymes of Nippertown.com:

This is beautiful, old-school country stuff. Real back-porch country stuff; not contemporary radio “country” music.

Oh, sure there’s drums (courtesy Chris Scharl), but just enough to keep pushing the songs along and never so much that they get in the way.

Mostly, it’s a delightful balance of Joe Gumpper’s fiddle, John Rice’s guitar and Ryan Dunham’s harmonica, laced with some pedal steel (and dobro) from veteran Rick Morse. Rob McCuen jumps in to spice things up a bit on banjo and mandolin on a couple of tunes, and the band enlisted Courtney Blackwell on harmony vocals for Dunham’s honky-tonker, “Heartbreak Moonlight.”

RED HAIRED STRANGERS CONCERT REVIEWED IN THE DAILY GAZETTE

Red Haired StrangersThe Red Haired Strangers recently opened for the Wiyos at the Linda in Albany. Below is an excerpt of what music critic Brian McElhiney had to say about the Stranger’s portion of the show:

“Local six-piece The Red Haired Strangers began the evening’s musical flashback, if you will, with a heady bang. The Albany group’s songs all fall within the bluegrass and roots rock idiom, but each tune had enough modern twists keep things interesting. Read more…

STRANGERS TO OPEN FOR THE WIYOS

the wiyosThe Red Haired Strangers are pleased to announce that they will be opening for The Wiyos, who will be showing off their unique brand of old timey music, ragtime and swing; all presented with a vaudevillian flair of course. Last summer they toured with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan and now they’re coming to our area. The event will take place at the Linda in Albany on Saturday, January 16th at 8pm. It’ll be more fun than a stack of 78’s.
